About us Amritsar:

Amritsar is a city in the northwestern india state of punjab,28 kilometers from the border with pakistan . Amritsar is founded by the Guru Ramdass Ji, the fourth guru of the Sikhs in about 1574 A.d.  Before the city was founded, the area was covered with thick forests and had several lakes .At the center of its walled old town, the gilded Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) is the holiest gurdwara (religious complex) of the sikh religion. it's at the end of a causeway, surrounded by the sacred Amrit Sarovar tank(lake),where pilgrims bathe. The old name of amritsar is Ramdaspur. Amritsar is famous for Hospitality, tourism, carpets, handloom fabrics and handicrafts.Golden Temple named after the 24 karat Gold covering. Inside the golden temple the sikh scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib. Amritsar is the largest and most important in a punjab and is a  major commerical, cultural , and transportation centre.Amritsar district falls in between Ravi River and Beas River. The district is famously known as an Educational Hub as Institutions representing almost every sphere are situated here such as Guru Nanak Dev University, Khalsa College (Boys) , Khalsa College (women)
